Louis Brittz : 0 or Denise Goeda : 0 or is a super drummer, with a history of achievements that read like the biography of a legend in the making! He studied at Beau Soleil’s Music Centre, completing his Trinity Grade 6 drum kit studies, with Distinction! He went on to study at the South African College of Music, at The University of Cape Town. Apart from his many performances, he has produced albums for The Soweto String Quartet, Laurika Rauch and Retief Burger. He’s the CEO of Merchant Music, a SA recording label that records, markets and distributes quality music. He’s also developed a course in leading praise and worship and has trained more than 300 worship teams from 14 denominations in Canada, America, England, Scotland, The Ukraine, Malawi, Namibia and South Africa during the past 5 years. Louis has worked closely with South African youth ministries as a project leader, producer and evangelist.
His work has been nominated for and won local music awards, and many of the leading South African gospel artists have recorded songs written by Louis. His 2012 release ‘Psalms’ achieved Gold status (20 000 units sold). Louis has performed with Steven Curtis Chapman, Kirk Franklin, The Newsboys, Third Day and Sonic Flood on their tours to South Africa. He’s toured internationally for 15 years and been to Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Dubai. His music is a unique mixture of African, European, and American influences. If your gain is too low, you can compensate with volume, but you may encounter noise or hiss, and if your gain is too high, you can also compensate with volume, but you may encounter unpleasant distortion. Volume does not affect the sound of your audio signal, so you are able to use volume to simply mix each channel or piece of audio together to your taste. If the signal level is too high, you could encounter an unpleasant distortion, and if the signal is too low you may end up with a noisy signal down the line.Īfter processing (EQ, Compression etc.) your signal will encounter the Volume control. It is at this stage that you will use gain for it’s primary purpose adjusting the level of the sound before it is processed, as this will have a major impact on the way the audio is processed and what it sounds like on the other end. Take a microphone for example once plugged into your system (mixing desk, audio interface etc.) the first thing the signal will encounter is the gain controller. In the context of recording in studio or mixing in a live context, gain and volume are best though of in a linear progression (ie: gain first, volume second).
